The Role
You’ll have the opportunity to support a wide range of research projects and gain valuable experience in our Polymer Engineering, Materials and Nano Materials laboratories.
Primarily working in our Polymer Engineering laboratory, you will be responsible for the general upkeep of the laboratory and its equipment and its day to day running including monitoring, identifying and resolving Health and Safety issues.
The laboratory has both lab and industrial scale equipment, and involves processing all aspects of polymer materials, including extrusion, injection moulding, compression moulding, and vacuum forming. You will also carry out the blending and recycling of polymer materials using machinery such as the Brabender mixer, 2 roll milling and twin-screw extruder.
You will have exposure to mechanical testing and materials analysis in our materials testing laboratory.
As someone with excellent communication skills, you will work closely with our students and staff to provide specialist knowledge and support. You’ll help our staff deliver excellent teaching sessions as well as support our research students in their laboratory projects by providing advice and technical support, discuss data analysis and results, and develop appropriate future testing and analysis.
