We are seeking a part-time Research Fellow with quantitative analysis expertise to join a team undertaking the most comprehensive Britain-wide study of children’s offending and victimisation - the Children’s Experiences of Crime in Britain Survey - funded by the Nuffield Foundation. The analysis is expected to take 6 months.
The successful candidate will form part of the quantitative analysis team, working closely with Professor Neal Hazel (PI) and Professor Christopher Birkbeck (Co-I). The research fellow role provides an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of research to deepen our understanding of the extent and context of children’s involvement with offending and antisocial behaviour, in both the offline and online domains. The study is affiliated to the International Self-Report Delinquency Study (ISRD4) involving surveys in more than 30 countries around the world.
The postholder will analyse new data from surveys of 4500 children aged 13-17 years in four stages: (1) analysing prevalence and incidence rates, (2) identifying causal relationships/models, (3) comparing with datasets from ISRD3 in Britain, and (4) comparing with data from other ISRD4 countries.
The findings will later be published, with co-authorship assigned to the postholder as appropriate. This research will have a significant impact and will inform policymakers and practitioners working directly with vulnerable children.
If you are a committed, enthusiastic researcher with excellent investigative and quantitative analytical skills, good initiative, and a keen interest in research related to children and criminology, then please don’t hesitate to start your application!
