We have an exciting opportunity in the Department of Psychology for an enthusiastic Senior Research Technician to join our Professional Services Team.
You will be responsible for leading and delivering the highest quality technical and operational expertise for teaching and research. Reporting to the School Manager (SM), this is a key role which will work flexibly across our four buildings, sometimes multiple buildings in the same day.
You will be responsible for the maintenance of the School’s research equipment including experimental hardware and other operational logistics such as room bookings for our research facilities. The Senior Research Technician will provide the technical support for our British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited courses specifically including our BSc in Psychology, along with wider contributions across our PGT and PGR programmes. This post will assist students setting up experiments and/or statistical analysis related enquiries.
We are looking to recruit a well organised, self-motivated individual, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation, including Health and Safety, as well as the acquisition and maintenance of research equipment, contributing to the Department’s ambitions in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
The Psychology Department at the University of Sheffield is among the largest in the UK and has been consistently ranked as one of the outstanding research departments in all seven UK Research Assessment Exercises to date. Over 90% of our department’s research was classed as internationally excellent or world leading in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework.
