A postdoctoral position in organometallic chemistry and catalysis is available in the research group of Dr Alexey Sergeev at the Department of Chemistry, University of Liverpool from February 1, 2025. You will investigate unusual selective C-H activations in alkylarenes using well-defined metal complexes to design novel functionalisation’s of arenes. This work will build on previous results from the Sergeev group (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2022, 144, 11564) and will involve both synthetic and mechanistic studies.
You should have a PhD in organic or organometallic chemistry and a strong publication track record in these fields. Excellent experimental skills in organometallic synthesis or homogeneous catalysis are essential.
If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
The post is offered initially for 12 months, available from 1 February 2025 with the option to extend.
