About us
Education Services, within Student and Registry Services, oversees UCL’s academic policy, ensures excellence in education for all and compliance with the Office for Students. We work in partnership with faculty and departments to ensure excellence in education and student experience through our three service teams: Academic Policy, Quality and Standards (APQS), Student Casework, and Student Success.
We are seeking a new Head of Academic Policy, Quality and Standards (APQS) who will provide leadership to the APQS team and support the strategic development of UCL’s education and student experience.
About the role
The Head of APQS is responsible for developing and implementing effective and efficient policy frameworks for the UCL education and student experience. The role involves leading the Academic Policy, Quality, and Standards team, overseeing the day-to-day operation of UCL’s Quality Review Framework, and developing and reviewing academic policies and procedures. The Head of Academic Policy, Quality, and Standards will also work closely with other central professional services, faculties, and the Vice Provost Education Office, to ensure that all regulations and policies can be operationalised in an efficient and effective manner.

About you
The ideal candidate will have a good honours degree or equivalent professional experience, in-depth knowledge and understanding of UK higher education, and an understanding of Office for Students conditions of registration. You should have extensive experience of developing policy/regulation within a university environment, with a clear focus on the practical implementation of policies. You should have experience of developing quality frameworks including programme approval and review. You should also have the ability to lead and inspire a team, excellent communication skills, and the ability to interrogate data to determine risk.
