Technical Operations, Resources and Services Team (TORS) is part of the Student and Academic Services directorate and is made up of highly qualified, specialist and experienced members of staff. We provide support to a vast and diverse range of teaching, research, and commercial activities across the University. TORS staff work closely with other University services such as Health and Safety, Finance and Estates.
Our role is to ensure that specialist spaces are fully accessible and add value to the student experience.
The Engineering Workshops technical team is committed to providing a highly skilled service to support academics, students, and researchers working across a range of engineering disciplines such as manufacturing, materials testing, construction, automotive and aeronautics.
In the Technician role you will help ensure the delivery of an excellent staff and student experience, supporting teaching and research activities in our engineering laboratories and workshops.
You will use your skills and knowledge to provide support for practical classes and student projects by giving equipment demonstrations and operational guidance; work closely with other members of the technical team to ensure that specialist equipment is well maintained and accessible as required; assist with the day to day running of labs and workshops, ensuring good housekeeping and health and safety standards are maintained; and contribute to supporting other key business areas as prioritised by the colleges and technical services.
