Background
The Department of Computer Science has over 50 academic staff and is ranked within the top third of computer science research institutions in the UK (REF2021). Research in the department is undertaken in its five flourishing research groups: The Centre for HCI Design (HCID), Centre for Software Reliability (CSR), giCentre (Visual analytics), the Adaptive Computing Systems and Machine Learning research centre (ACS-ML) and the Artificial Intelligence research centre (CitAI). Through a variety of taught programmes, the department includes a student body of over 800 undergraduate students, 340 taught postgraduate students and 75 doctoral research students. The department is located in the School of Science & Technology, a multi-disciplinary centre of research and education located in the heart of London’s vibrant tech and design communities.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a creative lecturer to join the department to make a major contribution to the academic excellence of the Centre for HCI Design (HCID) within the Department of Computer Science. To perform excellent research in areas of Human-Computer Interaction and teach across the range of programmes and modules that are delivered by the Department of Computer Science with a focus on the MSc HCI Design and MSc UX Engineering programmes.
Person Specification
We're looking for a qualified candidate with a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction or related field, or equivalent research experience., along with a strong knowledge of HCI-related subject areas. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of teaching students in HCI and related fields, as well as experience in leading quality review activities. Participation in Quality Assurance activities and a commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives are also key qualifications.
