We are looking to recruit a clinical researcher in psychiatry to work as part of the STEP project.
STEP is a Wellcome Trust-funded project that involves the assessment of biomarkers in people at clinical high risk for psychosis, and a clinical trial of Cannabidiol (CBD) in this population. The post is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.
The post is for a fixed term (funded for 12 months from 1st February 2025)
You will meet potential participants to assess their eligibility for the trial, and then assess and follow up those that are included using clinical, cognitive, neuroimaging and biological measures. You will also ensure that all types of data and bio samples are collected, processed, stored and documented as part of the study protocol.
Reporting to Professor Philip McGuire, you will join an established multi-disciplinary group of researchers and clinicians with a strong track record in research on psychosis. You will have opportunities to acquire research experience in a wide variety of areas, including psychopathology, cognition, neuroimaging, psychopharmacology, working with multi-modal datasets, and the assessment of peripheral biomarkers. The post would suit a trainee psychiatrist who is interested in a career as a clinical academic. You will be strongly supported in developing your own academic interests.
You will have a medical degree and GMC registration, along with a strong interest in mental health research. Experience in research involving patients and clinical work in Psychiatry would be desirable.
For an informal discussion or to find out more about the position please contact: Professor Philip McGuire (philip.mcguire@psych.ox.ac.uk).
You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement and a CV as part of your application.
The closing date for the posts is 12:00 midday on 16th September 2024.
