Edinburgh Napier University’s School of Health and Social Care is a vibrant community for over 3,400 students and 120 staff and one of the largest providers of midwifery and nursing education in Scotland.
From the highest standards of teaching to ground-breaking research, we’re setting our school apart as the best of its kind in the UK and all of our staff work to make an enduring and positive impact on the world around us.
Our academic staff and students rely on a strong and dedicated team of professionals to support them.
As such, we currently have an opportunity for a Technician to provide hands-on technical support with clinical skills and simulated practice learning, and teaching & assessment within our School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Care.
The Role:
As Technician, you will have the opportunity to use your practical skills to provide valuable assistance with the daily running of practical classes and project work for staff and students.
Whilst some of your duties will involve helping with the setup of in-room and mobile projector equipment, your practical knowledge and experience of clinical equipment and clinical skills procedures will serve you well as you take responsibility for the setup, use and upkeep of SMOTS equipment eg: A/V recording systems/cameras for live streaming and recording.
We anticipate that you will also have worked in a clinical skills centre or healthcare environment, so this will have provided you with enough practical experience to assist with the setup and use of training manikins from manufacturers such as Laerdal and Limbs & Things.
For this, you will also be able to utilise your technical and IT knowledge to set up iPad controllers and liaise with our IT Service Desk or relevant providers for updates, trouble shooting, or reporting damaged equipment/property for repair.
The role does come with comprehensive training, which will soon see you become a valued team member, providing a defined technical service that will truly make a difference to the experience of our students and staff.
