Job Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated Technical Demonstrator (Fashion Technologies & Machinery) to be responsible for the delivery of specialist technical skills demonstrations to either groups of students or one-to-one support to individuals here at Bath Spa University
About the Role
Within your role as Technical Demonstrator (Fashion Technologies & Machinery) you will lead workshops, prepare resources, and supervise students using laboratory/workshop facilities, ensuring Health and Safety compliance. Key responsibilities include equipment maintenance, risk assessments, and staying up to date with the latest technology and practices in your area of expertise. Within your role you will also demonstrate complex technical techniques to students from various programs, support individual and group student work, and develop and run workshops on the use of our facilities. You will be responsible for preparing resources and equipment, supervising students' project work, and ensuring health and safety compliance within the workspace. Additionally, you will conduct risk assessments, maintain equipment, and stay updated with new technologies and contemporary practices in your field. You may also advise on future resource requirements and supervise a small team of technical staff.
About You
You will have an NVQ4, NEBSS, a relevant degree, or significant professional experience in a specialist technical field. You will have experience in training or demonstrations, supervisory experience, and expertise in your technical area. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent ICT abilities, and a proactive approach to maintenance, safety, and development are essential. You will be responsible for planning and organising work, managing resources and liaising with staff and external agencies, therefore problem-solving and working well under pressure to meet deadlines will be essential.
