- THE ROLE -
We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate to work on a “5G Film Anywhere” project, funded by DSIT as part of the Belfast 5G Innovation Region (5GIR) programme. Ulster University has one of the UK’s leading Film and Virtual Production facilities and the successful candidate will have opportunity to work within high-tech environments in Studio Ulster and Ulster University to unlock the potential of 5G technology for remote Virtual Production.
The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team, in partnership with two other research associates, to help design, build, and deploy state-of-the-art solutions within the “5G Film Anywhere” context. In this project, we aim to build an end-to-end solution for remote Virtual Production by combining 5G technology and a new innovative codec solution to achieve real-time and high-capacity radio links between on-location filming and production studios. They will develop, implement and demonstrate end-to-end 5G-enabled remote virtual production use case focusing on 5G technology.
- ABOUT YOU -
The post holder must have:
- Undergraduate degree with a 2:1 qualification or higher in a technical discipline such as Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication or Computer Science.
- Research experience or equivalent professional experience in relevant areas, such as 5G/6G, 5G testbeds and trials, channel modelling, real-time communications, data streaming or 5G for virtual production/creative industries.
- Proficient in computer programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and others.
