Due to significant growth across the University over the last three years and planned growth over the next five, we are looking for a Financial Controller to join us.
Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounts (FA) within the Finance directorate, the Financial Controller is a key member of the Finance team,managing a team of four spread across operational finance (income and expenditure - AR and AP). This role deputises for the Head of FA in their absence they will manage daily operational finance operations, financial controls, banking arrangements and systems / process improvements to aid the growth of the university. The Finacial Controller will also support the Head of FA in statutory obligations such as year-end accounts, internal and external audits activities.
To succeed in this role you will bring demonstrable prior experience in managing an operational Finance function, also have an hands approach to your own activities. A good understanding of best pracrice including (processes, systems, practice etc) in the education / HE sector, and statutory accounting is required.
The ability to plan / effect change and communicate clearly to the Finance team, non-finance staff and executive members is of particular importance, whilst retaining the interests of the students at heart at all times.
