Mansfield College invites applications for a Fixed-Term Stipendiary Lectureship in Political Theory (Part-Time), tenable for one calendar year, from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025
The duties of the post include: i) teaching six weighted hours a week (averaged over three eight-week terms) through a combination of tutorials and classes; ii) participation in the organisation and administration of PPE at the College in collaboration with the other tutors. The successful candidate should have submitted, or be close to submitting, a doctorate in Politics or in Philosophy. The successful candidate will be required to teach: (a) the ‘Theory of Politics’ element of the first year ‘Introduction to the Theory and Practice of Politics’ Prelims paper; and (b) the core second year ‘Theory of Politics’ paper (203). The ability to teach the ‘Advanced Paper in Theories of Justice’ (229) may also be an advantage. The ability to provide excellent tutorial teaching to high-achieving undergraduates is essential.
