We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant within our Antigen Discovery Group, to support laboratory-based research in T cell antigen discovery. This is a fixed-term appointment for 3 years.
We are looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant with enthusiasm for T cell immunology and experience in sample preparation, analysis and interpretation of liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS)-generated datasets. You will join the Antigen Discovery Group which aims to decipher the molecular architecture of the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) processing and presentation machinery and study the effects of its function on T cell recognition in several disease models, including cancer. Processing samples of a variety of origins using standard lysis and immunoprecipitation, chromatography and mass spectrometry workflows, and data analysis will be an integral part of the position.
The position is central to the Antigen Discovery Laboratory and will support cutting-edge research ongoing in the wider institute. You will have the opportunity to formulate your own research projects and focus. You will have a background in Biology/Biochemistry (or a related discipline) with considerable bench science experience, and ideally with expertise of the analysis of peptides by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The post is located at the School of Life Sciences with access to a variety of facilities and its state-of-the-art mass spectrometry facilities. You will join a team of scientist that are passionate about HLA molecules and T cell antigen discovery for the development of next generation immunotherapies.
This postdoctoral research position requires you to hold a PhD. An appointment may be considered if you are shortly expected to be awarded a PhD. In this case the initial appointment would be made as a Research Assistant on the Training Grade 7 salary scale (£32,332-34,980).
Please note that applications made on a part-time basis for this role will be considered.
