The Role
The School of Advanced Study comprises eight internationally renowned research institutes as well as specialist centres in Digital Humanities and Public Engagement. It has four nationally and internationally recognised specialist research libraries.
An important component of the humanities national infrastructure and part of the University of London, this is a really exciting time to join the School of Advanced Study as we are at the start of a new strategic plan. The Dean’s office sits at the centre of the School. It is constituted of the Dean/PVC, Professor Jo Fox ; the Vice Dean, Professor Clare Lees; the Chief Operating Officer, Elaine Walters; the Director of Research and Innovation, Dr Andrew Fairweather –Tall; Director of Strategic projects, Dr Graeme Wise and the Research Policies & Business Intelligence Partner, Sandrine Alarcon-Symonds.
The Postholder manages the Dean’s office working closely with the Dean/PVC and the COO to manage their busy schedules and meetings but also the committees and operational infrastructure of the School. The postholder is at the centre of coordination of activity across the School working with institutes and libraries in respect of its unique Research Promotion and Facilitation role funded by Research England.

The University currently operates a Hybrid Working framework involving a mix of working remotely and in the office. Typically, the majority of employees will be able to agree to work remotely for up to 60% of their working week, role dependent, however will be required to attend on specific days for training or team meetings.
