Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Mechanics of Degradable PolymersCentral Oxford
We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Mechanics of Polymer Materials to join the Brassart Research Group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by UKRI and is fixed-term to 31 July 2026.
The project aims to characterise the mechanical behaviour of degradable polymers for biomedical and sustainability applications. Your task will be to design and independently run experiments to elucidate coupled chemo-mechanical effects impacting the deformation and fracture behaviour of model polymers, and to develop theoretical and/or computational models to rationalise experimental findings. You will have the opportunity to be involved in undergraduate and graduate supervision and teaching, and to participate in collaborative research projects.
You will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or be near completion), with established expertise in Experimental Mechanics of Polymers, Nonlinear Solid Mechanics, and Fracture Mechanics.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Prof. Laurence Brassart
