Applications are invited for a Research Technician in the Mass Spectrometry Research Facility (MS-SRF), Department of Chemistry. This role involves carrying out maintenance, calibration and operation of a wide range of mass spectrometers and associated chromatography systems, including LC-MS and GC-MS. As a member of the analytical team, the Research Technician will play a vital role in supporting the department’s mass spectrometry provision, the running of analytical services and contribute specialist knowledge and skills to support research. The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject area, including experience of analytical chemistry. They will have working knowledge of health and safety regulations and be able to work independently in a lab environment. The candidate will have excellent communications skills and confidently use IT software such as Microsoft Office. They will ideally have previous experience working in a mass spectrometry or similar analytical lab involving instrument calibration, maintenance and sample analysis. The post is ideally suited to a recent Chemistry graduate.
This is a full-time position based in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, Mansfield Road, Oxford. It is a fixed-term contract for 2 years in the first instance but with the potential for extension.
