The Careers and Employment Service are seeking a motivated candidate to join our team to support internship project management and administration in a range of areas. We are a friendly, positive team focused on student outcomes and creating opportunities for all.
Main duties and responsibilities
This role involves supporting with general internship project management and administration, implementing systems and procedures to ensure a high-quality business service, as well as clear communication and coordination across relevant stakeholders. As the first point of contact for client inquiries, you will handle communications through various channels, including face-to-face, phone, video conferencing, email messaging and other formats as appropriate, while adhering to agreed customer service standards.
You will develop, practice and maintain effective administrative procedures, track live project progress, maintain the annual project schedule, and assist with team and department events throughout the year. The role also includes contributing to departmental strategy and ensuring compliance with relevant University policies and regulations, including those related to finance, health and safety, and data protection.
Skills and experience required
You will have experience in delivering excellent customer service and be proficient with business IT tools, such as email, web, database, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, scheduling – ideally Microsoft Office tools, i.e. Word, Excel, and Outlook. They should possess good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to deal with sensitive commercial or personal material with strict confidentiality.
The role requires someone who can work and communicate effectively with people from across many disciplines and at all levels of seniority, receive, understand and interpret guidelines and procedures, and prioritise a demanding workload and be able to work to tight timescales and deadlines. A methodical approach with attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
The candidate must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently within a specific brief, and be a good team player who collaborates well across the department and the wider University. They should evidence a commitment to the University's values, equality and diversity objectives, and show a commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of A-levels or equivalent, or proven professional work experience.
