About the role

We have a new opportunity within the Department of Genetics, Genomics and Cancer Sciences to work with the Chongqing Medical University (CQMU) Joint Educational Programme (JEP) to contribute to both teaching and research as a Lecturer in Cancer Precision Medicine. 

The teaching responsibilities of the post will include the co-lead and delivery of a final year, undergraduate module in Precision Cancer and Respiratory Medicine for the BSc in Clinical Sciences and contributing to teaching on the taught MSc cancer programme in the area of cancer precision medicine.

The research responsibilities of the post will contribute to our major commitment into cancer research in the LCRC, our NIHR funded Biomedical Research Centre and our Cancer Research UK and NIHR funded Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre. The post holder is expected to deliver high quality translational cancer research, aligning with our overarching cancer research focus on personalizing cancer prevention, detection and therapy and to both interact with and enhance the research strengths of the LCRC and wider Department.

About you

With a PhD in a relevant subject area, you will have a proven record of experience in higher education. You will have a clear future research plan and a commitment to high-quality teaching at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level, ensuring our students can get the best experience possible.

The department is particularly interested in candidates that will bring expertise in the field of cancer genomics, bioinformatics and/or computational biology.

You will be expected to build and develop networks and collaborations across the University and CQMU, and as such you should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with senior staff, and to negotiate and influence where required.
