Are you an administrator with excellent IT and organisational skills, who is eager to learn, develop and support our aim to grow our international student numbers? Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a Student Immigration Compliance & Advice Officer this Autumn 2024.
As Birkbeck's Student Immigration Compliance & Advice Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the activities of the International Student Administration team (ISA) within Registry Services.
Working with experienced members of the team, you will be responsible for a number administrative activities related to maintaining the University's Student Visa sponsor licence. You will also be trained to complete ongoing international student support tasks, including providing basic immigration advice, as well as supporting colleagues across the University with information on areas related to international students.
The role involves very close working relationships with many teams across the University, including academic departments, Finance, External Relations and within Registry Services. There will also be daily contact with international applicants and students by email and by phone.
You will be part of a team that is focused on implementing frequently changing Government policies and ensuring the University maintains compliance, whilst also maximising recruitment from non-UK markets.
You will be responsible for checking identity documentation, cross-checking data, running reports and updating internal records, so a keen eye for detail is required.
You will have the relevant administrative experience and ability to manage high volumes of work and multiple priorities.
ISA is a small and supportive team where clear and regular communication with all members is required. You will however be expected to work independently and take responsibility for managing your area of work. Those with a proactive approach to problem solving and a particular interest in all areas of international education are encouraged to apply.
This opportunity would build on experience as Admissions Officer, or Assistant Compliance Officer. If this sounds like your role, apply with us today!
