About us

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a team of internationally renowned experts in neuroscience and brain imaging. The successful candidate will be under the guidance of Prof Mitul Mehta (Professor of Neuroimaging & Psychopharmacology; Director, Centre for Innovative Therapeutics) and will be based in the Department of Neuroimaging at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, one of the most esteemed clinical research centres worldwide. 

About the role

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating the set-up and conduct of clinical studies in healthy volunteers and different patient populations. They will be responsible to the Department’s Clinical research fellow.

The post will involve a diverse range of activities, including protocol review, assisting with the set up and conduct of studies and ensuring that the research teams are adequately trained and understand and follow the principles of good clinical practice. They will also be responsible for the maintenance of departmental SOPs and equipment.

The successful candidate will also contribute to our Biomedical Research Centre for Mental Health to support translational research under the guidance of the Theme Leads, Profs. Mitul Mehta & Alice Egerton (Department of Psychosis Studies).

This is a 0.8 FTE post (28 Hours per week), but we may be able to increase to full time (35hrs) should further funding become available. You will be offered a fixed term contract until 31st August 2027.

Prior research experience is essential, experience gained in a clinical unit or facility is preferable.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Graduate level qualification in any life science (if a nurse NMC Level One Registration RN).
  • Clinical research and/or trials experience with a knowledge of research methods and study design in research.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in clinical trials and knowledge of Research Governance Framework.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, including ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Well-developed IT skills

Desirable criteria

  •  Experience working in a clinical trials unit or research facility, including experience of basic laboratory techniques.
  •  Experience of the use of biomarkers (blood, neuroimaging, digital) to study mechanisms of disease in psychiatry.
