Background
Library Services aims to support learning, teaching and research activities of the University through the provision of high quality, responsive services. The Library Service has attained Customer Service Excellence accreditation.
The role sits within Content and Discovery Services which consists of six sub-teams which are focused on the management of content and resources.
Responsibilities
The purpose of the Senior Information Assistant is to assist with the management of digitisations via Reading Lists Online, overseeing the creation of accessible and copyright-compliant copies. You will be administering electronic thesis submissions on Research Manager and liaising with the Doctoral Office and research students. You will upload thesis files to City Research Online as well as curate metadata for other deposited outputs. Helpdesk, chat and roving responsibilities are expected of this role on a weekly rota basis.
Person Specification
Educated to A level or equivalent, you will have experience of working in an academic library or similar. The postholder will be comfortable using a range of information technologies. Strong customer service skills are essential to delivering an excellent student experience when responding to enquiries. You must be a team player but also possess the ability to work independently once tasks have been assigned.
