Applications are invited for a Business Development, Fundraising and Partnerships Manager on the exciting TechUP project. Ideally, we are seeking applicants with relevant experience working with multiple partners and stakeholders to secure funding, develop collaborative partnerships and develop new TechUP CPD training provision. The post is for a 12 month fixed term period with the possibility of extension and would be an excellent opportunity for a current member of staff seeking professional development as a secondment. The successful candidate will be working under the guidance of Professor Sue Black and Professor Alexandra Cristea and Johanna Waite in the TechUP team and will work closely with the busine ss development team in the Research Innovation Services (RIS) department.

This role is advertised as full time (35hrs) but we will consider applications for 28hrs (4 days) or 31.5hrs (4.5 days).

TechUP specialises in running blended learning training programmes which train individuals from minority groups into entry level tech roles. Developed in collaboration with industry, TechUP programmes include a mix of training in relevant tech skills, one to one mentoring, empowerment and confidence building. Our flexible approach to training ensures that anyone can benefit whatever their learning style and other commitments.

Working closely with industry we custom design the curriculum of each programme and provide networking events, careers fairs and interviews.

This role will be primarily responsible for:

  • Securing ongoing funding for future TechUP programmes through grants, industry partnerships, sponsorship and philanthropy working closely with our Resource Innovation Services (RIS) and Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO).
  • Developing new CPD training programme opportunities.
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with programme partners to support current and future programmes.
  • Leading and developing the TechUP Stakeholder Advisory Board.
  • Working internally to develop and secure the future of TechUP.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications/Experience

  1. Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience).
  2. Professional practitioner with knowledge and expertise in the delivery and development of business development and partnerships within the organisation.
  3. Professional practitioner with knowledge and expertise in the delivery and development of fundraising within the organisation.
  4. Professional practitioner with knowledge and expertise in the delivery and development of new training product development opportunities within the organisation.
  5. Experience of implementing policies and procedures and supporting change and service improvements.
  6. Experience of providing specialist advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues, including more senior colleagues.
  7. Experience of participating in internal or external networks to share and discuss good practice, develop strong and productive working relationships and positively influence the University’s reputation.
  8. Experience of managing and developing a team or teams and/or line management qualification.

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

  1. Excellent spoken and written communication skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
  2. Strong digital competence across a range of digital devices and apps including digital communication tools and Microsoft 365 applications.
  3. Committed to continuing professional development to maintain professional recognition.
  4. Knowledge and experience of ensuring compliance with regulatory and organisational policy and guidelines.
  5. Ability to solve problems and decide on and plan appropriate solutions.
