The University of Cambridge has identified cardiovascular disease as a major research priority, and this has been endorsed by the recent award of a British Heart Foundation Research Excellence Award of £5 million (2024-2029).
The Cambridge BHF Centre of Research Excellence (BHF CRE) brings together a wide range of cardiovascular research groups across the University of Cambridge and affiliated institutions. More information about the Centre’s aims and main research themes can be found on our website: https://www.cardiovascular.cam.ac.uk/research/cambridgecre.
We are now inviting applications for a non-clinical career development fellowship. The fellowship is available for outstanding postdoctoral researchers in basic biomedical science or disciplines outside traditional biological science working at the interfaces of disciplines, particularly where adoption of techniques outside cardiovascular science can accelerate basic and translational research.
The award will include full salary and £16.5K pa towards other costs. The individual will be supported to apply for additional funding and become competitive for external Intermediate Research Fellowships by the end of their Fellowship.
The successful applicant will have a strong record of research and its communication in a relevant subject. The post holder will also need to be able to work independently as well as in active collaboration with multi-disciplinary partners.
The funds for the fellowship will be available for up to two years from the commencement of the post.
Informal enquiries about these posts can be directed to the Centre Manager, Dr Jane Sugars (jms80@cam.ac.uk).
Candidates should contact one of the Centre co-applicants to seek their support as a potential supervisor before applying. Please ensure that you upload a covering letter, CV and research proposal (max one side of A4) in the upload section of the online application. A letter of support from a potential supervisor may also be included. The covering letter should outline how you match the criteria for the post and why you are applying for this role. If you upload any additional documents which have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application. Please include details of your referees, including email address and phone number, one of which should be your most recent line manager.
Interviews will be held on Thursday 24th October.
