About the Role
To undertake research investigations in collaboration with and under the direct supervision of the principal investigator (PI) advancing Queen Mary’s ‘robotic active capsule endoscopy’ and related research program. You will assist the PI in the preparation for the clinical translation and commercialisation of the developed technologies and will interact with Queen Mary Innovation (QMI), Queen Mary’s technology transfer company. You will also assist the PI in establishing an early cancer diagnosis themed laboratory facility at the National Bowel Research Centre, and will be involved with other relevant research programs, as required. You will support the PI in the administration of the research programme’s and the day to day running of the PI’s laboratory at NBRC.
About You
You will be an undergraduate in Engineering/Biomedical Engineering or related field or with equivalent expertise. A postgraduate degree in Materials Science, Nanotechnology, or related field is highly desirable. It is expected for the candidate to have some previous experience in device development, and proficiency in computational methods and use of engineering software and hardwares. Highly developed communication skills, team working abilities and time management skills are essential.
About the Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 360 staff based in four academic centers and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c700 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
