We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, committed and experienced professional to contribute to our highly successful and growing Undergraduate and Postgraduate Primary Initial Teacher Education programmes.
You will have a passion for developing future teachers and will use your recent or current experience in working with children with individual learning needs or special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to guide and support trainees to become excellent practitioners. You will have a current understanding of the statutory and regulatory context for SEND and current approaches to inclusion in the primary age phase.
The ability to liaise with colleagues in schools and a range of institutions will be an essential requirement in order to enhance consistency, share good practice and support the continuing success of the provision.
Substantial experience as a teacher in the primary age phase, or within primary specialist provision, is essential together with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) and a teaching qualification with QTS. The ability to take responsibility for co-ordinating and leading modules in the primary teacher education curriculum is desirable alongside the ability to teach across a range of modules in the subject area. You will be willing to travel on a regular basis to support trainee teachers on placement in our partnership schools. You will also be expected to contribute to recruitment activities within the Department.
We provide an exciting, stimulating place to learn and work. Our standards of academic achievement are high, our environment is inspiring, and we embrace innovation in all that we do. With exceptional opportunities for staff development, our students are not the only ones who thrive here.
