The opportunity

Wimbledon College of Arts (WCA), part of University of the Arts London (UAL), is seeking a part time Specialist Technician (Learning & Teaching) in Acting Methods to join our Acting and Performance team.

WCA provides a rich, visionary and state-of-the-art environment where performers, designers and creative technologists collaborate and explore performance in all its guises, whilst bringing to life extraordinary work.

Technicians are vital to the success of our students’ work, bringing industry knowledge that helps students achieve their best work and smoothly transition into their professional careers.

In this role, you’ll bring your advanced knowledge and professional experience to support and guide our students. You’ll work closely with both technical and academic staff, providing teaching, feedback, and expertise in acting methods and techniques.

You’ll also be instrumental in planning, developing, and delivering engaging learning activities, ensuring they align with health and safety guidelines and University policies.

About you

The successful candidate will have a relevant qualification in acting methods or significant experience in a similar technical role within education, industry, or ideally both. You should have:

  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in acting and performance practices.
  • Experience delivering technical workshops in acting and performance.
  • The ability to explain technical/specialist acting terms clearly.

Although this role focuses on the Acting and Performance course, you’ll also be part of the wider WCA technical team. Therefore, teamwork and the ability to communicate with individuals of varying technical expertise is essential.

By sharing your expertise, passion for teaching, and collaborative mindset, you will help to create a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment for our students.
