The role
We are looking for a Research Support Assistant for the UKRI-funded project “(Un)fair inequality in the labour market: A global study.” In this research project, we work together with high-level project partners (UNDP Human Development Reports Office, OECD, and others) to develop a global database on perceived unfair inequality in 50 countries across the globe. To this end, we will collect novel harmonized data on (i) fairness preferences, and (ii) beliefs about inequalities in these countries. In addition, these data will be matched to corresponding (iii) observational data (household surveys, labour force surveys, register data, etc.).
What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for developing a data infrastructure that allows for the harmonization of the observational data. In particular, you will (a) establish coding principles for the harmonization of data sources, (b) set up a project workflow for the harmonization process, (c) harmonize data for a select subgroup of countries, and (d) validate the representativeness of harmonized data with alternative data sources. In this research internship, you will gain valuable experience in project management, working with large-scale datasets, and research transparency.
