Finance Business Partner - Research Grants & Science

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

Are you an experienced Finance Business Partner seeking an opportunity to support a leading science division at Kew in achieving its strategic goals?

We have an exciting role within our Finance department, reporting to the Head of Project & Fund Accounting, where you will play a pivotal role in providing Kew’s senior scientists with the financial insights they need to manage their grant-funded research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with colleagues across Kew Science on new funding proposals to develop comprehensive, fully costed budgets for submission to funders, often working within tight deadlines.
  • Manage post-award financial activities for a portfolio of research projects, including monitoring and reporting actual expenditure to ensure alignment with funder requirements, and providing regular financial reports to both researchers and funders.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, forecasts, and budgets for several Kew Science departments, with an total annual budget of approximately £20 million.

About You:
With proven experience in research-funded project accounting, you will join a team of five supporting Kew Science. You will bring a track record of providing professional, collaborative financial support to non-finance colleagues within a diverse organization.

This role can be based at either Kew or Wakehurst with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.

The salary for this position is £43,123 - £49,738 per annum, depending on skills and experience (+ £2900 market supplement, to be reviewed annually)
