About the Role
As the Recruitment and Widening Participation (WP) Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of recruitment strategies that attract undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students while embedding widening participation (WP) into our core recruitment activities. Reporting to the Student Recruitment team, you will oversee school and college liaison, front-line enquiry management, and targeted outreach to prospective students, ensuring our efforts align with institutional goals and regulatory requirements.
This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and operational delivery. You will manage complex projects and teams, ensuring high-impact outcomes across student recruitment, and regularly evaluate and report on the success of initiatives.
About You
You will bring significant experience from the higher education sector, particularly in student recruitment or outreach, and are confident in managing large-scale projects and engaging with schools or equivalent partners. You understand the complexities of the student recruitment journey and have a proven ability to design initiatives that resonate with diverse audiences. Your background may include running a schools outreach programme or managing similar functions, where you have been responsible for developing strategic, evidence-based plans and evaluating their outcomes.
Your skill set extends beyond recruitment: you’re comfortable with data analysis and have used these insights to enhance the effectiveness of your programmes.
Managing teams is something you do well, and you take pride in mentoring, developing, and motivating others to achieve high performance. Your ability to collaborate across complex organisations, build meaningful relationships, and work towards shared goals will be essential to your success in this role.
About the Department
The role is situated within the External Relations Directorate which is responsible for the marketing of the profile of Queen Mary University of London and its educational programmes, and the attraction and recruitment of students from under-represented backgrounds as well as students from the UK, EU and Overseas more generally.

Benefits
We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities.
