About the School of Arts and Humanities:

The School of Arts and Humanities bridges the fine and applied arts with curating, writing, and the history of design. Our focus is on the arts in the everyday—whether as a site of practice, archive, or technological advancement. We maintain strong ties with world-renowned theatres, galleries, libraries, and museums that play a crucial role in the cultural and economic future, ensuring our work remains relevant and publicly engaged.

About the Ceramics & Glass Programme:

The Ceramics & Glass programme, situated within Applied Arts, exists at the intersection of art and design, digital and analogue, and material and immaterial practices. In this dynamic era, as we enter the 5th Industrial Revolution, the potential of material-led disciplines such as ceramics and glass is more exciting than ever, offering unique opportunities for studio practice and new technologies.

We believe in the transformative power of material thinking, research, and making to shape the next generation of artists and designers. Our programme provides a creative space where personal concerns and global perspectives converge to address social, cultural, and material challenges. Through innovative and traditional methodologies, students explore the boundaries of ceramics and glass, contributing to an evolving dialogue about materiality and process.

About the Role:

We are seeking an outstanding Tutor (0.6 FTE, maternity cover) with a strong background in ceramics, glass, or related material-led disciplines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm and commitment to teaching and research in a world-leading academic environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the ongoing development of the Ceramics & Glass programme, working with the Head of Programme to advance contextual practices across Applied Arts disciplines. This position will also involve contributing to the development of new theoretical and practical frameworks, expanding the programme’s research and pedagogical reach.
