An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate to join the School of Computing Sciences and School of Pharmacy to conduct research on developing an AI ensemble system for analysing the snack creation/production data and processes and then recommending the optimised receipts and production conditions and procedures.
As a Senior Research Associate you will be associated with a particular project and will contribute ideas and/or enhancement of techniques or methodologies. You will analyse and interpret data, design and develop a framework of an AI system, conduct experiments, evaluate results and present them on research progress and outcomes. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to grant applications and may be involved in the supervision of researchers and teaching of students within the Schools.
You will have a PhD, or postgraduate level research degree, equivalent qualification, or experience in relevant research areas – Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and/or Data Science (DS).
You will also have significant research experience on machine learning with supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning, deep neural networks, symbolic artificial intelligence development.
You’ll need experience of AI algorithm and system development in high level scripting language such as Python, knowledge and skills in digital signals and time series data analysis and ideally have publications in respected journals or equivalent within the field.
You will be able to work in a proactive manner in a high paced environment. Ideally, you may have some experience in snack or food production.
You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret data and work effectively as part of a team. Advanced skills directly relating to this research area and experience teaching small classes and/or overseeing practices would be advantageous.
The post is available immediately on a full-time basis for a fixed term period of 8 months, with the possibility of a further 10 months employed by the collaborating company
