About the role
A post-doctoral position is available in Dr. Leandro Castellano’s laboratory to investigate the role of non-coding RNA in pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The project will focus on how non-coding RNAs regulate tumour progression and metastasis, with the aim of identifying novel therapeutic targets.
Using CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, RNA-immunoprecipitation, and RT-qPCR, the successful candidate will employ cutting-edge molecular techniques to modify cancer genomes and explore RNA-protein interactions. This project is part of an exciting collaboration with Prof. Florian Kern from the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, providing access to state-of-the-art facilities and a multidisciplinary research environment.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful research in the growing field of RNA biology and its application in cancer therapeutics. The work has the potential to uncover new RNA-based interventions for pancreatic cancer, an area with urgent clinical need.
About you
Applicants should have a solid background in cancer biology, with a strong preference for expertise in pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Candidates should be proficient in growing cancer cells and possess hands-on experience with CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Additionally, they should be prove experience in techniques for studying gene expression and RNA biology, such as RT-qPCR, RNA immunoprecipitation, and biochemical methods, including western blotting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of these advanced molecular biology techniques and be capable of applying them to investigate RNA-protein interactions and other critical aspects of cancer biology.
