Following the retirement of Professor Anthony Dorling, King’s College London is seeking to appoint a Professor in Nephrology within the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine (FoLSM). This role offers an outstanding opportunity to shape transplant immunology & nephrology research at King’s and help reinvigorate the field in the UK.
The School of Immunology & Microbial Sciences (SIMS), where the role is based, is dedicated to delivering world-class research and education focused on the immune system, particularly its role in health and disease. With excellent opportunities to enhance the field through collaborations across the University and with connected hospital Trusts, the successful candidate will play a key role in advancing the University’s mission to lead high-impact research to inform and innovate. The appointee will also have the opportunity to take on an Honorary Consultant Nephrologist appointment within Guy’s Hospital, working with sizeable cohorts of kidney transplant and autoimmune renal disease patients at Guy's & St Thomas’s, and King's College Hospitals.
This appointment provides an exceptional platform to expand clinical academic leadership in Transplantation and Nephrology research. We are seeking an academic with a compelling track record and ongoing programme of research in this field. The appointee will lead the development of a comprehensive translational research programme in Transplantation and Nephrology, aligned with the vision and strategy of SIMS and FoLSM.
The successful applicant will bring the required skills to secure research funding, foster interdisciplinary collaborations across the faculty, strengthen translational research and ensure an inclusive research culture, build upon pre-existing world-class programmes of research, and enhance King’s global reputation in transplant immunology through innovative research and clinical excellence, which in turn will contribute to the University’s vision to make the world a better place.
