We have two vacancies: one permanent and one fixed term until 21 September 2025 to cover maternity leave.

ABOUT US AND THE TEAM
The University of Sunderland in London, based at Canary Wharf, boasts a vibrant and diverse community of staff and students. We consider ourselves as an innovative satellite campus and are constantly evolving and have exciting plans for 2025 and beyond!

We are currently piloting a four-day working week which allows our colleagues to work 32 hours over 4 days week with no reduction in pay. The pilot is part of our ongoing efforts to create a positive and inclusive workplace that promotes work-life balance and allows our colleagues to thrive professionally and personally whilst maintaining our commitment to delivering high-quality service to all our students.

In addition, in early 2025 we will be moving to a new, modern campus building adjacent to our current location offering a bright and spacious learning and working environment.

Our Student Services department champions the student experience, and actively supports students to fully engage with their studies and to be successful. We lead on creating community and belonging on campus, from induction and welcome across the student journey.

As a Student Relations Officer, you will be part of the busy and dedicated students’ enquiry service called ‘Gateway’. Our Gateway is a one-stop-shop and first point of contact for students on all aspects of university life from their point of arrival through to graduation.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Student Relations Officer, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and will be at the heart of the Gateway’s operations in helping, supporting and advising our students. As well as providing advice and guidance you will assist with the delivery of events, activities and induction sessions for students. This is a varied role in which you will be able to see the positive impact of your work on students’ lives and journey through higher education on a daily basis.

To be successful in this role, you will be a team player with a solid understanding of the importance of customer care, be approachable and have a can-do attitude. You will also need to have exceptional communication skills to easily develop a rapport with a variety of students. In addition, you will have proven knowledge and experience of delivering information and advice in a range of specific areas.
