The University of Salford is now developing the Policing programme as part of our portfolio of professional subject areas, therefore we have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Lecturer (Apprenticeship Lead) in Policing!
The Senior Lecturer of Policing (Apprenticeship Lead) post is a unique role that combines both strategic and operational responsibilities for the development, delivery and growth of high-quality apprenticeships in the Directorate of Social Sciences. While the Directorate is keen to expand its apprenticeships offer, the post will focus primarily on the university’s policing provision. The role holder will work closely with and as part of the policing programme team (and subcontractors) to support the design and delivery of a high-quality teaching and learning experience for students, drawing on innovative pedagogy, research and other scholarly activity. They will also work with colleagues across the Directorate, School and wider university to support the monitoring, tracking and delivery of policing programmes that are compliant with OFSTED, ESFA, IfATE, Office for Students, College of Policing and university requirements. This includes ensuring that the programmes are well-prepared for and achieve positive outcomes in all external inspections and audits, through ongoing action planning and review, and the co-ordination and writing of external evidence and framework submissions.
Interviews are expected to be on Thursday 28th November 2024. This is a 12-month fixed term contract.

A bit about Policing in the School of Health and Society…
There are four entry routes into Policing, which are validated by the College of Policing. The University of Salford delivers three of these routes, including a Professional Policing Degree (PPD). We are also working in partnership with Greater Manchester Police (GMP) to deliver the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) and the Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP).
We have the ambition to become a regional, national and international leader in Policing through professional education, development, research and enterprise. Therefore, we are looking to develop and strengthen our existing team of Policing academics.
As well as having a strong relationship with GMP colleagues who are co-located on campus, we have excellent simulation facilities, and an exciting campus masterplan including new buildings, new facilities, and new ways of thinking.
Join us as a Senior Lecturer of Policing (Apprenticeship Lead), in the directorate of Social Sciences here at the University of Salford and be part of one of the UK’s fastest growing universities.
