Full-time (35 hours per week) over any five days out of seven. This will typically be Mondays to Fridays but will include weekend days on occasion
The Maintenance Manager has responsibility for the maintenance and safety of all College premises. The post-holder will ensure that the College’s buildings, utilities, plant, machinery and equipment are properly maintained and conform with current regulations and recognised good practice. Alongside this, the post-holder plays a key role in developing annual and long-term maintenance plans, and will investigate and incorporate sustainable maintenance solutions.
The Maintenance Manager ensures that reactive maintenance tasks are correctly prioritised, engages contractors where appropriate, and monitors the quality of maintenance work – ensuring that all work is carried out in strict compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation.
The Maintenance Manager leads and line-manages the Maintenance Team and manages all maintenance contractors – obtaining quotations, ensuring statutory compliance, supervising work, and ensuring work orders and invoices are accurate.
To be successful in your application you will need previous experience in a similar role. Proven success in leading a small team, project management experience, and experience of appointing and dealing with contractors will be essential.
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of health and safety policies and practices, as well as an awareness of the statutory ACOPs and an interest in investigating and incorporating sustainable options and solutions. You will need good IT skills, strong organisational and prioritisation skills, and good administrative skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, experience of managing departmental budgets, and a flexible approach to your work will be essential.
Familiarity with planning regulations, knowledge of building regulations, Chartered Institute of Building (or similar) membership and a Site Managers’ Safety Training Scheme Certification would be advantageous, as would sympathy with the values, ethos and objectives of a small, collegiate institution.
