Research Assistant

Part-time: 14 hours per week 

Fixed-term: 31^st March 2026

The opportunity:

We are looking for an organised Research Assistant. This post will make a key contribution to the research grant ‘International and Canadian Child Rights Partnership’. You will assist with the research on child activism, support secondary data analysis, and support the University’s contribution to the Partnership.

This post is part-time (14 hours per week.) We are open to considering flexible working patterns and/or splitting the available 14 hours per week, in-line with the responsibilities of the post.

We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combine a mix of remote and regular on-campus working, subject to the project’s needs (which includes face-to-face fieldwork and meetings in Scotland).

Your skills and attributes for success:

• Good knowledge of participatory methods with children
• Good knowledge of children’s human rights, and a commitment to respect them
• Methodological expertise in how to design, undertake and analyse qualitative research with children and adults
• Excellent communication and organisational skills in developing a strategic work-plan and collaboratively delivering with cross-national partners
• Excellent writing and editing skills in English, in writing for children and young people, academic, practitioner audiences
