The University of East London (UEL) is looking for a strategic and creative Research, Impact and Corporate Communications Manager to lead our research storytelling and deliver high-impact communications across digital, media and corporate platforms.
About Us
At UEL, we’re driving transformation through Vision 2028—our ambitious strategy to become the UK's leading careers-first university. We’re rooted in innovation, inclusion, and real-world impact, with research strengths in sustainability, health, and the data economy.
Our award-winning External Relations Directorate brings together marketing, communications, recruitment and digital experts to tell UEL’s story to the world. You’ll be joining a fast-paced, supportive, and highly collaborative environment.
The Role
This is a high-profile, strategic role where you’ll shape and lead the University’s research communications, while also supporting other major corporate campaigns. You’ll work across digital platforms, events and media to raise the profile of UEL’s world-changing research, amplify the voices of key thought leaders, and enhance our institutional reputation.
You’ll be equally comfortable writing for diverse audiences, producing videos or podcasts, coaching academics for media opportunities, and building trust with senior leadership.
What You’ll Do
- Design and lead research and corporate communications strategies aligned with Vision 2028
- Produce high-impact digital content (e.g., video, podcasts, LinkedIn Lives, blogs, etc.)
- Write compelling communications: speeches, newsletters, press releases, and thought leadership
- Translate complex academic work into engaging stories for diverse audiences
- Collaborate with researchers, senior leaders, and internal teams to identify and promote key projects and people
- Monitor and report on performance across digital and media channels using analytics
- Contribute to UEL’s crisis communication and reputation management
- Ensure brand consistency and impactful messaging across all channels
About You
You’re a natural storyteller with strategic instincts and a passion for higher education and public impact. You’re curious, confident, digitally savvy—and most importantly, you know how to turn complex research into real-world stories that connect.
This is a unique opportunity to take real impact at a values-driven, inclusive institution shaping the future of education and careers.
