We are seeking an outstanding academic leader to join the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering as Professor in Electrical Engineering, specifically in the field of Power Electronics and Drives. The successful candidate will bring a proven record of achievement in research, teaching, and academic leadership, together with a clear vision for advancing the discipline and inspiring the next generation of engineers. 

Key Responsibilities 

Plan and lead the development and implementation of a research strategy in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, building national and international reputation. Provide academic leadership, including mentoring and supporting colleagues, and fostering an inclusive and high-performing academic community. Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring innovative approaches to learning, teaching, and assessment that reflect international best practice. Lead and support major funding bids, develop partnerships with industry and external organisations, and sustain research support for the discipline. Represent and enhance the reputation of the Department, Faculty, and University through scholarly outputs, academic networking, and engagement with professional bodies. Take on leadership and management roles within the Department, including the appointment, development, and performance of academic teams.

Essential Qualifications and Experience 

PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a closely related field.An international profile of excellence in research, with a sustained record of high-quality publications in leading peer-reviewed journals.Strong evidence of success in securing major national and international competitive research grants and in leading large-scale, externally funded research projects.Proven record of excellence in teaching and learning, with experience in curriculum design, innovation, and quality assurance.Demonstrated academic leadership, including mentoring PhD students, junior colleagues, and contributing to departmental and faculty strategy.Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong internal and external collaborations.

Your Remuneration, Benefits, and Support 

The successful candidate will be offered a five-year contract that may be extended by mutual agreement. Salary is negotiable within the professorial range, depending on skills and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is provided, including accommodation allowance, insurance, schooling support, home flight allowance, relocation and repatriation support, and paid annual leave. Opportunities may also be available to apply for Chinese talent schemes, subject to eligibility. For candidates who have reached the statutory retirement age under Chinese regulations, a service agreement will be offered instead.
