The opportunity
The Product, Ceramic and Industrial Design programme at Central Saint Martins invites applications for Associate Lecturers (ALs) to teach on our new course, MA Design for Industry 5.0.
At the forefront of new industry, the MA Design for Industry 5.0 course centres people and planet in the future of design, technology and manufacturing. Industry 5.0 is a future in which the traditional drivers of efficiency and productivity give way to the ethics of care and human-centred design, while respecting environmental circularity and planetary production limitations. MA Design for Industry 5.0 foregrounds people and planet to explore the entrepreneurial opportunity presented by the fourth industrial revolution.
As an Associate Lecturer, you will:
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview and, if deemed appointable, will be added to a pool of Associate Lecturers and Visiting Practitioners. They may be matched to staffing needs that arise over a 12-month period, which could include tutoring, delivering seminars and workshops, or developing course materials and project briefs.
While most needs are temporary in nature, many staff find these hourly-paid roles to be a valuable way to become immersed in our academic environment, develop their teaching practice, and gain experience that may support future applications for more substantive or permanent roles within the programme.
About you
We welcome applications from practitioners and educators from the fields of Industrial Design, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Manufacturing, socially driven entrepreneurship, the Circular Economy, Service Design and/or Matters of Care, with a demonstrable commitment to the principles of Industry 5.0.
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with expertise in the following areas:
