Project Description:

Air pollution is a critical global issue with severe consequences for the environment, economy, and human health. 99% of the world’s population lives in areas where air pollution exceeds WHO guidelines, leading to accelerated ageing, increased mortality, and decreased health span.

This PhD studentship offers a unique opportunity to work within an interdisciplinary collaboration between the University of Bradford, the University of Leeds, and ApconiX, a leading industrial partner in the area of environmental toxicology and early detection of neurological effects. The candidate will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge techniques, including molecular and cellular biology, manipulation of neuronal models, electrophysiology, and advanced micro-physiological systems, which will include a 6- month placement at ApconiX.

Funding notes:

This project has full funding for UK students, which will cover tuition fees, a tax-free stipend of £20,780 per year for living costs, and a Research Support Grant.
