The Role
As Reader in Economics on our Education, Practice/Pedagogy and Citizenship (EPC) pathway, you will provide strategic and academic leadership for this growing subject area. You will lead a strong and well-established existing team in delivering a portfolio of activities that align with University Education Strategy. You will:

  • Shape and deliver a forward-thinking vision for Economics within the department.
  • Lead curriculum innovation and development across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Support and mentor academic staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and high performance.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement to enhance the subject group connectivity to the external environment.
  • Contribute to the senior leadership team, influencing and delivering on, departmental strategy.

Who We're Looking For
We are seeking an inspiring leader with:

  • A strong academic profile in Economics, ideally with expertise in areas such as Economic History, Macroeconomics, or Microeconomics.
  • Experience of academic leadership and team management within higher education.
  • A track record of curriculum development and pedagogic innovation resulting in positive demonstrable impact.
  • The ability to build external networks and partnerships that enhance student outcomes and impact.
  • A commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of academic life.
