British Academy of Jewellery – Academic Registry

Reporting to: Vice Principal (Student Experience and Governance)

This role operates on a hybrid working arrangement that will require a minimum of three days per week in one of BAJ’s offices. The role can be based in London, Birmingham or Sheffield.

The need for on-site working may fluctuate in line with business requirements. 

Our working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit so please note that Aa BAJ work location is added to our employment contracts.

The Academic Registry

This role will lead BAJ’s Academic Registry. It is responsible for a wide range of functions, from governance through to quality assurance, student administration, marking and assessment. The Team also includes BAJ’s Admissions function and is responsible for managing processes and compliance for UKVI purposes. The team are also responsible for processing all results and grades for the students and produce all certificates that are awarded at the graduation ceremony.

About the Role:

You will lead the student administration at BAJ and will be accountable to the Vice Principal (Student Experience and Governance) for the management of:

  • the student contract with BAJ;
  • processes underpinning the student journey and BAJ’s academic offer
  • data on students and courses which contribute to BAJ’s capacity effectively to manage its activities.

You will be expected to continually improve the effectiveness, efficiency and quality of the processes and services provided by BAJ Registry, in line with BAJ’s strategy and the need to deliver an excellent student experience..

About You:

We are looking for a proven leader with demonstrable experience in a senior academic administrative role in a UK Higher or Further Education Provider

Essential requirements:

  • An honours degree and a postgraduate qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • A proven track record of delivering complex operational management across multifaceted professional service functions
  • An excellent understanding and working knowledge of all aspects of academic-related governance, regulations, administration and organisational management in an English or Welsh Higher or Further Education Provider
  • Knowledge of the reporting requirements in relation to student administration placed upon Higher and Furter Education Providers in England by statute and by regulation
  • Knowledge of governance issues in the higher and/or further education sector, and the regulatory and legal arrangements for governance of English providers
