Department/Location: Faculty of Divinity, Cambridge
The Cambridge Centre for Chinese Theology (CCCT) in the Faculty of Divinity invites applications for a new fixed-term appointment as Early-Career Research Fellow in the field of Chinese theology and Christianities for 3 years from 1 October 2026. The post is funded by a generous grant from Lux Mundi Inc. (USA), and might be particularly suitable for an early career researcher looking to develop their research and teaching profiles.
To be eligible, candidates should have a research specialism in the field of Chinese theology and Christianities. Candidates must have submitted their doctoral thesis for viva voce examination not more than four years prior to the application closing date. This means candidates must have submitted their thesis after 12 December 2021. Those wishing to make a case for a career break should present a case for interruption by a period of maternity leave, family commitments, illness, or other exceptional circumstances. Please note that time spent working outside academia does not qualify as a career break. Applicants with a disability who wish to make a case for the extension of the four-year eligibility window may do so using the online application form.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research and provide some teaching in one or more areas of Christian theology, Chinese theology and Christianities. These may include, for example, recent work on science-and-religion interaction in Chinese contexts, research in Chinese as well as Asian theological anthropology, theological responses to the role of the church in Chinese contexts, and critical examination of Sino-Western theological exchange on human flourishing.
