The Department of Oncology has an exciting opportunity for a Research Laboratory Technician to join the Laboratory Management and Facilities Team within the Early Cancer Institute. This is an opportunity to provide first line support for the day-to-day organisation and maintenance of the research laboratories. You will work alongside Laboratory Managers to deliver exceptional customer service, overseeing the smooth running of all the laboratories, including equipment troubleshooting, maintenance and repair, consumable and stock ordering and the monitoring of compliance with Health and Safety regulations and procedures.
The ideal applicant will have practical experience of specialised research laboratory activities and equipment, and demonstrate good knowledge of managing chemicals, reagents and biological samples in a research environment.
The post is based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus with expected relocation to a newly redeveloped Early Cancer Institute building from June 2026. It is an exciting time to join the Department and the postholder will play a key role in assisting with the move into to the building.
The Early Cancer Institute is the UK's only institute dedicated to early cancer. It sits within the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, Department of Oncology.
