Postdoctoral Research Associate in vascular cell plasticity and translation (single-cell and omics) (Fixed Term)
We invite applicants for a postdoc position (Research Associate) for a project in Dr Helle Jorgensen's group (link) in the Heart and Lung Research Institute at the University of Cambridge.
The Jorgensen group studies regulation of cell plasticity and heterogeneity in vascular diseases, such as atherosclerosis. We have demonstrated extensive transcriptional and functional heterogeneity of smooth muscle cells and identified regulatory mechanisms relevant for disease. The group studies mechanisms underlying disease, by combining computational analysis of large datasets with functional analyses in a collaborative environment. Examples of our work include Chappell 2016, Circ Res; Dobnikar/Taylor 2018, Nat Comms, Lambert/Oc 2024, Nat CVR; Taylor 2025, CVR.
We are now seeking a highly talented and motivated individual to join our team. The project is an international collaboration that combines computational analysis of large datasets from humans with mechanistic and functional analysis using both in vitro and in vivo disease models. The role will also include opportunities for contribution to translational projects.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable with both computational data analysis and experimental research. A strong background in computational data analysis of omics data is required. Expertise in molecular and cell biology and/or in vivo vascular disease models is desirable. Knowledge of gene regulation, control of cell state and cardiovascular biology would be an advantage but is not essential.
