University of East London

University of East London

We’re the University of East London (UEL), founded in 1898 and proud to change lives through education. Our goal is to advance industry 5.0, careers-first education and provide a clear path to the jobs and opportunities of the future. We’re committed to driving diversity in the 5.0 talent pipeline, working in partnership to promote talent wherever it is found and creating a sustainable, inclusive and green future.

But we can’t achieve this alone. We need forward-thinking, innovative and curious individuals to join our community and help shape what comes next. At UEL, you’ll work with colleagues who share a passion for creativity, technology and positive change, in an inclusive and welcoming environment that is constantly evolving.

About Us

The People & Culture directorate is responsible, in partnership with stakeholders across the organisation, for delivering the University of East London’s People strategy in furtherance of the UELs strategic progress outlined in our Vision 2028 strategy.

We are passionate about the delivery of customer-centric and operationally excellent services to create an environment where people are attracted to work at UEL to be supported to develop and grow and deliver their best work in a hard-working and encouraging environment.

About the Job

As our Learning & Development Partner, you'll play a key role in shaping how people grow and succeed across the organisation. Working closely with senior leaders and People & Culture colleagues, you’ll design and deliver learning programmes that genuinely make a difference — from leadership and management development to onboarding and change initiatives.

The role blends strategy with hands-on delivery: facilitating workshops, creating practical resources and using insight and data to target skills gaps and build capability. Inclusion, engagement and culture sit at the heart of the work, with real scope to influence how learning supports performance and progression.

About You

You’ll bring a solid background in Learning & Development, ideally supported by a CIPD qualification or equivalent experience. You have a proven ability to diagnose development needs and design engaging impactful learning solutions, both face-to-face and digitally enabled. Your experience covers leadership and management development, soft skills and behavioural programmes, and you’re used to measuring impact through KPIs and learning insights.

You balance credibility with a collaborative mindset and be skilled at building relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You should also be confident at sourcing and managing third-party providers. You’re a clear, confident communicator who enjoys facilitating and presenting, brings people with you, and creates practical, accessible resources using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

A strong understanding of apprenticeships and career development frameworks is essential, with the ability to support, design, or align learning programmes to meet apprenticeship standards and progression pathways.
