About the Role
Black Health Legacy is a long-term research study that aims to improve the health of Black African and Black Caribbean people. The study is funded by the Wellcome Trust and will prioritise research on medical problems that affect people from these communities, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease. This role is part-time and there is flexibility between 0.4 FTE-0.6 FTE.
The Research Facilitator will become a key member of the Black Health Legacy team, and will be responsible for meeting the administrative needs of the study. You will support a senior team of academics (led by Professor Sarah Finer, Dr Veline L’Esperance) in the Unit of Predictive and Precision Medicine, Wolfson Institute of Population Health in their work on type 2 diabetes in diverse populations and primary care health economics. This will include providing day-to-day administrative, budgetary and secretarial support such as meeting organisation, purchasing, diary management to the team and will work closely with the wider Black Health Legacy teams.
About You
A highly motivated and organised individual with strong skills in project administration and the use of digital tools to support effective delivery. You will ideally hold a first degree (or equivalent) and be enthusiastic about supporting community-focused work with underrepresented groups. You will have experience of coordinating across multi-disciplinary teams as well as managing communication with external stakeholders in person, by email and on the phone. You will be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to balance multiple priorities, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Prior experience in administration within research or a medical setting is desirable but not essential. We welcome individuals who are keen to develop their career in NHS and/or community-based research.
