Academic Registry is one of the University’s largest Strategic Business Units and supports the business and its administration through a number of dedicated teams, who provide an expert central service supporting students throughout their journey from enquiry to award.
We have a full time Administrator (Placements) vacancy within the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Compliance Team. This is an opportunity to join a small team dedicated to supporting trainee teachers and our extensive partnership of local schools.
Main duties and responsibilities
The focus of the job is to source and arrange school-based training placements for our students in full compliance with professional body and university requirements. You will be responsible for building and maintaining working relationships with our partnership schools which will include ensuring all schools have up to date Partnership Agreements. The job will involve recording students on all teaching routes on the school-based training database, ensuring the accuracy of the data entered.
You will provide reports on school-based training placements, partnership schools and student attendance to the Head of Initial Teacher Development and Early Childhood Education and other academic staff and acquire a sound knowledge of those parts of the University’s Management Information Systems and other support systems and equipment that are appropriate to the area of work.
Skills and experience required
Appropriate proven administrative experience is essential. You will need to have a methodical approach and attention to detail and be able to demonstrate initiative so excellent time management and organisational skills are key. You will have good IT skills, including the use of MS Office and databases and be effective in a team setting with excellent communication skills. Being able to demonstrate a good understanding of customer care, including a polite, helpful and confident telephone manner will be essential for this role.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of A-levels or equivalent, or proven professional work experience.
